Best way to paint solid oak furniture? Anyone tried the Behr paint/primer combo for this purpose?

We want to update our old entertainment center with paint. If we use this product, do we need to sand? Are there any products out there for this type of project that will give us a great result? We will be using a sprayer. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks and happy holidays.
