What does an INVESTMENT BANKER do?

My accounting teacher said that if she could go back, She would become an investment banker. What do investment bankers do? How much do they get paid (In the U.S.)? What kind of jobs would i have to get into to get ahead or get experience? What kind of college degree would i need and what would my major be? What kind of school would i have to got to? HELP! PLEASE!
